hokkien mee
for Eng Ho Fried Hokkien Mee - 18 July 2007

Food 5 / 5 Price 4.5 / 5

to me, this is one of the best hokkien mee i have ever eaten...

the texture of the yellow mee mixed together with the "laksa" noodles are a great combination as the "laksa" noodles are the thin type....which is really unusual from the normal stalls who sell hokkien mee...

the aroma of the noodles simply permeates your nose when u walk along the corridor despite it being next ...

yes, i do agree that in terms of kueh-wise, the taste is all the same....the secret lies in the preserved turnips (or otherwise better known as chai-poh) and the chilli....

the chai-poh has its unique richness...it's not too oily....more the richness of the flavour of the chai-poh that makes it really good....some others taste too oily and some too salty....this is just the balance of ...

nasi lemak
for Nasi Lemak $1.90 (椰浆饭 $1.90) - 16 July 2007

Food 2 / 5 Price 3.5 / 5

for the price of S$1.90, what more can i complain abt the food? even more so to talk about the food quality, etc?

the items in the nasi lemak are small.....however, if u r on a budget meal, i guess this should suffice. But there are definitely better choices for bigger prices.

the soya bean milk is so bland...to be honest, u can't really taste the soya bean at all....seriously made me wonder if it was in powder form...nothing to do with the sweetness of it....more of the richness of the soya beans

shredded chicken porridge and fish porridge
for Tiong Bahru Porridge - 16 July 2007

i must say that their congee is indeed very soupy and starchy...just the way i like my congee to be done....

hmm, i find the ingredients a tad too little...not the usual congee that u would expect with the youtiao...however, the flavour is definitely strong and good...

waiting to try the frog leg porridge the next time....:)
