Coveted Carrot Cake
for Lau Goh Teochew Chye Thow Kway (老吴菜头粿) - 15 December 2007

Food 4.5 / 5 Price 3 / 5
Service 3 / 5 Ambience 3 / 5

Decided to try out this stall when I notice pretty consistent patronage for their carrot cake even after dinner hours.

Had the white carrot cake with chilli. I must say that I am pleasantly surprise that it is tasty and the texture of the kueh is soft and palatable. The chilli is not hot spicy, slightly sweet and blends well with the carrot cake.

The way they do the carrot ...

Tempting Teochew Kuehs
for Tiong Bahru Teochew Kueh - 18 August 2007

Food 4 / 5 Price 4 / 5
Service 4 / 5 Ambience 3.5 / 5

Tried their rice kueh, soon kueh and carrot cake-cum-yam cake.. pretty good i would say and definitely home-made style. The contents are fresh and they go the extra mile to fry the kuehs for you if you want to consume them soon. Eating the kuehs piping hot and freshly fried is definitely a luxury.. reminds me so much of how my mum will fry the kuehs before serving to us.

Must ...

Char Siew Sensation
for Zhong Yu Yuan Wei Wanton Noodle (忠于原味) - 26 July 2007

Food 4 / 5 Price 4 / 5
Service 4 / 5 Ambience 3 / 5

Apparently there are 2 grades of Char Siew.. the premium Char Siew with slight fats and the normal ones. My first trial of the wanton noodle was with the premium grade and I must say that the Char Siew tastes very good. It's soft and very well marinated and palatable. I usually think little of Char Siew but this really tingles the taste buds. I even did a $10 takeaway for the Char Siew and ...

Commendable Chee Cheong Fun
for You Ji (有记) - 14 July 2007

Food 3.5 / 5 Price 3.5 / 5
Service 3 / 5 Ambience 3 / 5

Walked past the stall and saw a big trayful of Chee Cheong Fun.. was attracted to try out them out as they look so fresh, gleaming and inviting. To have it in a box, the uncle says that having 3 is the minimum. It costs me $1.80 for a box and I had it plain with soy sauce, chilli and oil.

The texture and bite of the Chee Cheong Fun is good, it is as soft, smooth and chewy as ...

Tempting Tou Hua
for Teck Seng Beancurd - 14 July 2007

Food 4.5 / 5 Price 4.5 / 5
Service 4.5 / 5 Ambience 3.5 / 5

I have always been a Rochor beancurd fan and never thought that I could find another beancurd that I would find as good. I'm so glad to be proven wrong in my trial of Teck Seng Beancurd!

Given that Rochor beancurd might be slightly smoother and softer, but the taste of Teck Seng is very good. The texture of the beancurd and blended taste of beans are very well done and it ...
